What better way to enjoy a mardi gras festival than with some bright festive cake cinnamon roll. This festive cake consisting of cinnamon, cream, praline, and other fillings really earns its title “king cake“. Here’s what you’ll need in other to make one of these;
- 3/4 cup of milk
- 1/4 oz, active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup of warm water
- 1/3 cup of unsalted melted butter
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cups of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 4 cups of flour
- 3 Tablespoons of unsalted melted butter
- 1 cup of light brown sugar
- 3 Tablespoons of cinnamon
- 3/4 cup of chopped pecans (optional)
- 3 Tablespoons of milk
- 3 Tablespoons of softened cream cheese
- 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
- Green sugar
- Purple sugar
- Yellow sugar
- 1 plastic baby
Add 3/4 cup of milk onto your skillet and scald by heating up over medium heat. Turn off once simmering, now there should be about 1/2 cups left. Then take out 1/2 cup of milk.
Pour 1/2 cup of warm water in a small bowl and add yeast until it dissolves (see package direction for the right temperature to keep the yeast alive).
Mix the 1/2 cup of milk, melted butter, sugar, salt, and egg into a large bowl. Add the yeast if the temperature is less than 110F (to keep the yeast alive) and mix thoroughly.
Pour in 2 cups of flour and mix properly until smooth. Add 1/2 cup (or less) of flour periodically until the dough becomes easier to work with.
Roll the dough and knead for 5-10 minutes on a lightly floured surface. Now place your dough onto a greased bowl and cover with saran wrap also add a kitchen towel and leave for 2 hours.
Remove the kitchen towel and wrap the dough should now be double its previous size. Now place the dough on a lightly floured surface and roll using a rolling pin until its shape is like a rectangle.
Mix the cinnamon together with the brown sugar. Pour the melted butter onto the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon with brown sugar mixture over the butter.
Roll the doll all the way from one long edge to the other edge, and pinch to seal it. Now cut in half, and cut each of the halves into half again until you have 4 equal pieces. Then line up two pieces at a time and cut each into 3 rolls until a total of 12 is achieved.
Coat the bottom with melted butter and sugar then place the cinnamon roll 4 and 3 in rolls and column respectively. Leave them to rise until the dough achieves double its sizes, cover, and place in the refrigerator till morning.
Bring out the roll and leave it at room temperature. Now preheat the oven to over 350F. Then place the rolls into the oven and bake for about 30 min till they turn brown in color.
For the icing, whisk the cream and cheese until creamy then add milk until everything is combined. Add sifted sugar, vanilla, or other flavor and whisk until smooth. Now Pour the glaze over the rolls and Sprinkle the yellow, green, and purple sugar sprinkles on top of the iced rolls. Now serve.
