…and again denies his campaign’s involvement.

To see the video — taken at last night’s EngageNOLA “Meet the Candidate” event at Elizabeth’s Restaurant — hop on over to Humid Beings.

Oh, and I know this isn’t a huge revelation, but has anyone noticed there is a ‘mitchthemayor’ profile at Humid Beings

cue X-Files theme…

Someone should ask him why he using the ethically dubious and obnoxious tactic of placing huge campaign signs on abandoned buildings and fences all over the city. A few other candidates (Ramsey, Murray) are doing this as well but he is by far the worst offender.

Sr Luncheon, did you also notice that the original post on Humid Beings which linked to MitchtheMayor.com has vanished and the link now points to a subsequent post?

Dambala-

I did notice that… and a comment @ Humidcity
here! that links the site now to “The Canary Collective” - which produces the “Humid Beings” website….

So I’ve extended my complaint about people complaining about people complaining, and strangling their free speech for some reason, to:

“Its not just the fact that this “Mitchthemayor” site attacked a candidate or was a parody, but:

1) It seemed to attribute the site to another candidate
and
B) (now my big complaint) If the producers of the “parody” site are also the producers of quote/unquote news and more specifically election news sites, such as Pollnola and Humid Beings, then how can the public be sure the information they receive from these sites is information and not propaganda if these connections are not made public.”

AND also, I’m pretty sick and tired of people making the argument that “Well, flyers and deliberate rumors have been a part of politics forever.” - You know what. Hey I agree with that.. but I can’t agree that it should have been NOR SHOULD IT NOW BE accepted practice. We now have the tools and technology to prevent it so we should, so we must!

So I say “Thank you” to all that have been investigating this and keeping this up. I’m sure once it becomes juicy enough TV will pick it up and take the credit… but “F” them… History will be better served by your efforts.

It has been brought to my attention that Humid Beings Is NOT in anyway responsible for this site and was pointed out as a player in this “mitchthemayor”gate due to confusion. I still submit that this is more evidence why transparency is an issue when something like this site is created so innocent parties are not implicated.

Yeah, Haney produced Mitch’s website in 2006 so he was still listed as the registrar for mitchFORmayor.com…the real URL for the campaign site. Confusing but true.

I think the buck stops with IOKON and Georges.

Incidentally Georges has a history of funding stealth attacks on political candidates. He helped fund the stop Shelley (Midura) campaign back in 06.

He still needs to answer to this, or he needs to address Iokon’s involvement.

There may be a campaign law broken in this whole thing by attributing the spoof to Perry.

I’m with you Sr. L, Georges needs to be smacked in the face with this until he provides an explanation.

Well my thing isn’t so much any candidate as it is any candidate’s campaign who feels that the Internet is some kind of free-for-all shouting match. To be taken serious as a medium of discourse we ‘Internauts’ can’t allow our space to be filled with heresay.
