At the request of Liz Reyes from the John Georges campaign — who never saw the now-infamous “Mitch The Mayor” video — we’re reposting it here as a news item.

Edit: Liz called tonight to make it clear she didn’t request the video be reposted just so she could see it, and we apologize for saying otherwise.

Didn’t see it, my ass. She may have paid for it: http://humidcity.com/?p=2771

Dambala on December 17th, 2009 at 7:56 pm #

who produced that copy of the video?

Kevin Allman on December 17th, 2009 at 7:59 pm #

Dambala, I recorded it directly off the computer screen using my iPhone before it was taken down. Sorry about the quality.

Dambala on December 17th, 2009 at 8:00 pm #

no worries, I’m just checking on where it came from.

I just want answers. As I posted on the site (see Greg P’s link), the evidence looks damning. If Iokon is the internet company they claim to be they should already be aware of the trackbacks and links propogating throught Twitter, Facebook, and other online platforms. In that post is an invite to weigh in and join the discussion. we are still waiting for a response.

This is the 21st Century, we are watching and we have the internet tools to pull the veil off of any questionable BS like this. If Iokon really was responsible then they are part of the demographic that gives social media professionals a bad name. If not, they need to step up and clear their name.

I have no patience with this sort of duplicity. Whoever is responsible needs to be hauled up in front of the public and exposed for their unethical activities.

“John Georges is way too busy for petting dogs, even when the camera is on him.”

Forgive my “carpetblogging” (I am in Central Louisiana), but to me, the criticism of Georges in this video could be interpreted as a back-handed compliment.

I guess we are supposed to believe Georges is too busy as an entrepreneur to worry about the ineffectiveness of his bizarre Golden Retriever commercial. Is that the point?

That said, if it is proven to be true that someone involved in the Georges’s camp is responsible for this (and it appears to have been intended to be a significant investment in spreading an anti-Landrieu meme, with a presence on multiple social media platforms and with a fairly sophisticated homepage), then James Perry’s campaign owes an apology to Troy Henry.

Perry’s campaign manager sent out an e-mail blast this afternoon that implied in the headline that Mr. Henry was behind this. Quoting from the press release:

“James Perry Issues Statement on Website Attacking all Candidates for Mayor not Named Troy Henry

“Calls Website ‘Typical New Orleans Political Dirty Trick’”

I’d like to know the purpose of mentioning Mr. Henry in the headline of James Perry’s press release, particularly given the evidence that has come to light.

Contrary to what the press release stated, Troy Henry was not the only candidate not mentioned in the video. So, what led them to believe Mr. Henry could potentially be behind this? And what made them confident enough to send out a press release implying such?

Again, sorry for carpetblogging, but this is too interesting.

Dambala on December 17th, 2009 at 11:24 pm #

you sir, are no carpetblogger

CenLamar on December 17th, 2009 at 11:36 pm #

Dambala, thank you, sir. Honestly, I just wanted to use your neologism.

Has anyone noticed a lot of “What about free speech” and “Its a parody get over it” type comments on nola from people. Like a ham-handed preemptive strike to say “Hey you pinko commies who talk about free speech. This is free speech”, “and also Landrieu sucks … so … STFU Liberal!”

Like a bad Sean Hanity/Glenn Beck parody where the leftists who are ruining this country are too sensitive to get the joke so are to blame for it being offensive.

Which these posts might even be plants…

I mean … maybe its some form of Meta-parody-political-alternate-reality-game.

Head… Hurting…

Oh this is just PresssHUSH!
Kevin Allman, line’em up knock’em down, Brutha! News Bartenda!

What we have hea’yah is way’a'mor than a fail’ya to comoonicate. Now we got game, this is where the rubber meets the nose so to speak.
Aaahhh love the smell of Politics in the morning…

OK Cenlamar and Dambala, I see yer’neologism, and raise you 1 Fey Eponym: Rove, or Rovian.
What is a “Rove” and how is that eponymous? Admittedly not as solid as say, Boysenberry, a “Rove” is similar to a “Wedgie” in Boy Scout Camp but in Politics. Also, a “Rove” is usually self-inflicted and designed to throw the public’s scent onto your opponent (or whoever is picking on poor Mitch) who may or may not have produced this video.
So, a Rove is a self-inflicted political-wedgie designed to make the candidate look like a hapless victim of prank (but not unload anything really damaging if you notice).
I mean, Mitch doesn’t really have to talk about anything now, he can just sit back and let this little media-whirllygig do its damage. So I’d put a little money on Mitch himself… or perchance a rouge element in his own campaign as the likelier source of this Kafka’Con.

I’m glad we have people like Loki to cyber’suss this stuff out and track it down, ’cause Editilla has obviously read way too much Science Fiction to be of any help here.
We can’t Wait for the Sequel.

Whoa! Editilla… You are blowing my mind here! Maybe you have something.

I noticed “they” did give the cartoon Mitch more hair.

Editilla~New Orleans Ladder on December 18th, 2009 at 2:14 pm #

Look’heah, Luncheon, You’da one who gave me the idea. Because you are spot on the dog that those commentators in the forums were waiting on this story.
But I hadn’t spotted Mad Mitch’s Hair Fetish!
HA! Of course!
Wheels within Wheels…
OK, OK… howz this, Mitch did it, but Georges stole it, so Mitch put it out early but there on Georges server account thingy to make it look like Georges did it? But frankly it is a little slick for either one of them if ya’ax me… Bruno? Yeah! I mean whoever did this is definitely a pot smoker right? Nah. Meth Head? Naaah. Coke? Ding Ding Ding!

Captain Sassy on December 18th, 2009 at 3:01 pm #

I find it really interesting that no one is commenting on Mitch’s announcement yesterday — via a proxy at the Criminal Justice Forum — that he has left for a 4-day “silent retreat”. Declare, get some face time on TV, and take off?! Interesting ….

Editilla~New Orleans Ladder on December 18th, 2009 at 5:32 pm #

Hmmmm..yeeessss, vethy interething, Captain Sassy.
Could Mitch gone on Mini-vacation with Leslie Jacobs??? Hmmm? Read to each other from an intellectually empty book and stare out at the waves?
Aw. Ok Ok…weeelll?
Naaaah no way…but?
