Squelch the rumors, sez Clancy DuBos. Despite saying as late as this morning that he was unsure whether he would run for another term on the New Orleans City Council, council president Arnie Fielkow has decided he will indeed run for a second term.

Expect Fielkow to announce his decision later this evening or early tomorrow morning, and file qualifying papers Friday.

Clever theater on Arnie’s part.

Some people that pay taxes are angry about the big raise, so he exhibits a little public angst about the poverty he suffers to serve; and heals the wounds of his voting for the big pay increase a few months ago.

You have to admire the charade, but he should have done it a few weeks ago, not the evening before qualifying ends as he could have gotten more attention and seemed a little less indecisive.

Folks need to get over the pay raise. I’d rather pay them more, and have the opportunity for individuals who aren’t retired (from a past generation), or independently wealthy making my laws. Those are two groups, that already have the world handed to them, we need to support those who could afford to quit the day-jobs to be our elected leaders. Arnie & Nolan for Council-at-Large.
