As the new HBO drama Tremé gets ready to begin shooting on location in New Orleans in November, several members of the writing team — David Simon, George Pelecanos, Tom Piazza and Lolis Eric Elie — will be appearing together at Octavia Books Sept. 16 for a group reading and signing of their own books. (And, as the press release promises, they’ll be “coming to the event straight from the Tremé writer’s room.”)

Details under the cut.

Come meet the writers for the upcoming, New Orleans-based, prime-time HBO series Tremé. Joining us to talk about Treme and to read from and sign their own books, will be Tom Piazza (celebrating the paperback release of his novel, City of Refuge, and also author of Why New Orleans Matters), series creator David Simon (”The Wire” and “Homicide”), noted crime-novelist George Pelecanos (just released The Way Home), and Times-Picayune writer Lolis Elie (writer of the award-winning documentary, “Faubourg Treme: The Untold Story of Black New Orleans”).

Kevin, do you know the shooting schedule? Or details on extras casting? It would be fun to watch/be an extra.
