Wow. You are so far to the left that you have clearly fell off your rocking chair.
Noah Bonaparte Pais on October 8th, 2008 at 1:01 pm #
Otis, I’m 29, man. Do you really think I have a rocking chair? But, since you have a habit of leaving vague, single-line refutations on my posts, I would like to know exactly on which points you and I are so diametrically opposed. Do you enjoy pandering? Relish ideological warfare? Please, my right-winged adversary, pray tell.

I suspect Otis is more aroused by your vapid triteness than any point which you think you have made. But that is just my opinion.

Bush has presided over the greatest increase in government debt in history. How is that conservative? C’mon people, this guy’s your standard bearer. Justify his spending for me, please. I’ll listen.
This kind of spending and borrowing from foreign countries, all the while cutting taxes for rich people, is very soon going to hit us all in our wallets. It’s already happening.
Fellas, let’s face it. This election is over! McCain might as well stop pouring money into the campaign. The fat lady is singing.
Let me tell you why: at a Barack Obama appearance this afternoon in Indianapolis, the Democratic candidate had his picture taken with several members of the Hornets, including Chris Paul and David West. (If you want to see the pictures go to Hornet Henry’s Facebook page later today)
Now, don’t get me wrong, Hornet Henry is completely non-partisan (the only thing that has my 100 percent support is New Orleans Hornets basketball), but is there any way the nation is not completely swayed to vote for Obama after they see him smiling and rubbing elbows with CP and DWest? McCain better think quickly and get to Indy to do damage control, maybe even set up a pregame photo op with Coach of the Year Byron Scott. Otherwise I think we all know who wins this election.
By the way, since we already know Obama has the Presidency locked up, do yourself a favor and use the time you would’ve spent berating McCain supporters to purchase Hornets tickets. Call 504-525-HOOP. I promise the person on the other end of the phone will place your order, regardless of your political leanings!

Well, Otis, your reinforcements finally arrived. I’m glad my vapid triteness is arousing someone. But you’d think that a tag-team would be able to come up with something better. C’mon, fellas! I mean, seriously — even the Hornets are outwitting you.
Otis on October 8th, 2008 at 5:12 pm #
Sorry about that, Mr. retriever of animals.

“— even the Hornets are outwitting you.”
I’m not sure what competition you are imagining, but why the need to insult the Hornets?
Otis, John, you’re losing the argument to an NBA spambot. I think the implications are clear. Consider: In 1998, the federal government recorded its first surplus in nearly 30 years, approximately $70 billion. Our deficit stood around $5 trillion and was trending downward. Today, the deficit is north of $10.1 trillion, and is trending upward due to an unnecessary war with no end in sight and an ongoing series of blanket bailouts that smack of nationalized socialism. Seriously — care to comment on these policies? I understand you both feel very different than I do. What I want to understand is, why?
I knew it was only a matter of time before this campaign and debate devolved into little more than name-calling and mud-slinging.
I was sincerely hoping to rise above that sort of fruitless dialogue, but clearly Noah could not refrain from pandering to the lowest common demoninator by using a hateful phrase such as “spambot.”
Aren’t we better than this? Haven’t we progressed further as a society than to resort to hate speech? Personally, I believe our time would be better spent focusing on some of the larger issues that will affect the future of this city and nation.
The election is Nov. 4, but let’s cut to the chase here: there is an even more critical event taking place on Nov. 5, when the Hornets host the Atlanta Hawks in an interconference grudge match.
Do your civic duty as a New Orleanian - and American! - and call 504-525-HOOP to witness the proceedings at the Hive. Don’t fall prey to the pull of apathy in a society in which hate speech like the statement above is tolerated!
Vote HORNETS-HAWKS on November 5!
Big Chief on October 9th, 2008 at 10:33 am #
Henry, you’re writing is very cute, especially how you satirically propose selling basketball tickets to resolve society’s problems. However, this does seem more like a presidential political thread than a Hornets’ thread. So, please give John and Otis a chance to answer Noah’s questions, and go Hawk (pun intended) the tickets in the appropriate area.
John on October 9th, 2008 at 11:57 am #
Henry, your leaving the arena because of the intimidation of Big Chief will be like the Hawks collapsing on November 5, when they face the Hornets.
