When corporations start moving into Broadmoor, that’s when I leave. Unless it’s the Broadmoor Development Corporation, of course. What comes next is shameless shilling for my neighborhood.

Today the Broadmoor Improvement Association announced the launch of a new website for its community development corporation, www.broadmoorcorp.com

The website will allow Broadmoorians — yeah, that’s how we refer to ourselves — to complain, or, as the press release states, “fill out a detailed online report about a quality of life issue.” After a report is filled out online, a BDC staffer will try to get that problem resolved.

There are other helpful tools offered on the site, including “Help 4 NOLA,” which lists a number of various available resources such as daycare services, medical, mental health, housing programs and many others. These resources aren’t limited to just Broadmoor, but feature services and programs available throughout the city.

And if you’re a potential corporate donor, BDC has plenty of possibilities for you to invest in. But be careful, you never know what Broadmoor might be planning next.

I’ve been doing some apartment scouting for my parents this week… and I can’t help but notice that nearly every third house in Broadmoor has a For Sale sign out in the yard these days. Is that a good sign or a bad sign? Most of the homes for sale appear to be in good condition.

Jeffrey, this is not true at all. Dude, we have 2300 properties in Broadmoor and 73 currently on the market. Our properties are selling at and above market value on a consistent basis. This is a great sign and proof of progress in Broadmoor. Just so you know, 80% of our properties are back in commerce with 362 in need of repair. Our goal is to focus on the 362 until all properties and families are back!

La Toya,

Please don’t take that comment the wrong way. I’m not trying to cast any aspersions on the neighborhood. I just noticed a lot of signs up this week… particularly in the Fontainebleau to Napoleon corridor along Claiborne.

Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Jeffrey! I am a realtor for Latter & Blum as well as a proud Broadmoorian and I thought I would check the numbers on the Multilist service run by the New Orleans Metropolitan Association of Realtors, to see exactly how many properties really are for sale in Broadmoor. I ran a search for all single family homes, multi-family homes, condos and vacant lots and in Area 66, which encompasses Broadmoor, there are 76 properties. That’s 1 in 30. Not bad. Then, because you got me wondering, I ran the same search for Area 61(Lakeview) and got 368 properties, Area 62(Carrollton) and got 216 properties, Area 63(University) and found 166 properties, Area 64(Uptown) had 249 properties and Area 65(Garden District) and there were a whopping 342 properties. You better tell your parents to act fast ’cause it looks like they might have to fight for the last few houses we have left to sell here in Broadmoor!
