Coming to a grocery store checkout lane near you…

Jamie Lynn

Am I the only one who thinks this OK! magazine is really not all that OK?

From the magazine’s interview:

The 17-year-old actress opens up to OK! about everything — from taking parenting classes to life inside the new home she shares with Maddie and boyfriend Casey Aldridge, to her first experience with labor pains.

“They’d told me it would be an eight- to 12-hour labor, and I was ready to have the baby in three to four hours,” Jamie Lynn tells OK!. “I had a perfect pregnancy and a perfect delivery. I was very blessed.”

I’m not one of those people who blame the media for teenagers’ choices or behavior; their parents and their families have more influence over what they do, for both good and bad (or, at least, they should).

But why do I feel vaguely sick when I see a teen mom on a magazine cover telling her fans that “being a mom is the best thing in the world!”?

Any parents or teachers care to weigh in?

They kinda made her look like a young Paula Deen, didn’t they?

One of the few uses of Photoshop to make a cover subject look middle-aged instead of the reverse.

I think that teen pregnancy is going to become a fad because of things like this. She’s rich and can afford to have a baby at her age. It’s not going to be as much “fun” for the lower middle class girls who look up to her to have their babies.
