What’s good for the Goose…
How is it the law becomes a clouded and grey areas arise when it comes to the misconduct of elected public officials?
The grey area, spun to create a smoke cloud to hid themselves behind or to minimize the damaged of their actions is what I heard while listening to Mr. Price’s comments.
One fact, still apparent though, is that the source of his remorse is only due to the negative attention his actions have (finally) received.
Had any of the earlier incidences been committed by any other citizen and yes the mayor is first of all a citizen, and second the mayor, it most likely wouldn’t have had the chance to have escalate to multiple offenses had the first offense received the consequences it deserved.
Ignore for the moment the mutiple prior incidences that were ignored; what other motorist, after crashing through the guard rail on the causeway would not have immediately gone to jail and charged w/ reckless operation of a motor vehicle, public endangerment and destruction of public property.
In Mayor Price’s case, it would also have been determined, as he has admitted, was drunk so add to those charges -DUI.
To my knowledge, after a judge set bond, including restitution to repair the bridge damage, before to the violator being released, driving priviledges would also be revoked for (6) months to (1) year for a first time offense.
How long would those priviliges been suspend after mutiple offenses?
Mayor Price, on the other hand has OFFERED to VOLUNTARIALLY suspend his use of city vehicles for the next 13 weeks!
I can’t understand how it’s even his decision! And am I to understand he’s been allowed to continue to drive (anything!) since not one but multiple DUI’s have come to light? Does he still even have a drivers license?
Isn’t it obvious, Mr. Price is a hazard to himself and an endangerment to the safety of the public in general?
Consider the situation a citizen would be in, who’s employment would involve driving a company vechicle, who now, due to his actions, no longer has a drivers license? Would his employer allow him to continue to drive a co. vehicle? Would the business even consider him employable?
Furthermore, the comments of Mr. Price almost boast w/ an attitude of superiority the mayor posseses, as more than adequatedly demonstrated by both his irresponsible and lawless actions.
This attitude continues w/his expectations to minimize the results by attempting to use the influence of his position, as he was able to do w/ law enforcement multiple times.
What’s the city council reaction to this? What message does it send?
Let’s get the opinion of the gas station attentant, who by the way should be commended for notifing the police, after he recognized a motorist attemping to drive in an inebriated conditon, if he can point out the grey area as it applies to the rights of elected officals and the likes of the rest of us common citizens.
I’d like to know if he thinks “grey” fits the Goose and if it should also suit the Gander!
The best to Ya!
