Very interesting analysis Clancy. For 1500 vouchers we end up paying the legislators an outrage increase in salary. Does Jindal remember that for 30 shekels of silver Judas betrayed his leader. For 1500 vouchers Jindal betrayed the people of this state. For an alleged scholar and allegedly religious man, Jindal should understand the simile.

Maybe as citizens of Louisiana who assumed (pre-election) Jindal would be a man of honor and not just another politician. We all recognize that politicians have to wheel and deal to get things done, especially in Louisiana, but I for one thought we had a chance to be different with Jindal. His pre-election talk was so strong he convinced me he was different and would act differently. In the end he is just another Louisiana politician. More troubling is his national talk tour touting outright lies about what he has done for Louisiana. This leads me to believe he could be another silver tonque lizzard in the mould of EWE.

School choice is very important and vouchers are a great idea. Read more about them here http://www.friedmanfoundation.org/
That said I hate Jindal’s spending and the legislators’ raises but if voucher can be accomplished by bribing the legislators then we should tripled their pay and got $100 million for vouchers statewide.

You erred only on one specific: jindal fed teepell to the baboons, there are no lions in that bunch though there sure as hell are a lot of jackals flitting about…
jeffrey on June 27th, 2008 at 12:25 pm #
No no he fed him to the Dragons. Please don’t feed the Dragons, Bobby.

If I not mistaken the governor has a lot of power over the legislature with the line item veto. Seems to me he should hold this over their heads and not have them holding him hostage.
philip oncale on June 27th, 2008 at 2:48 pm #
The actions of Jindal and the Legislature are what used known as “a blinding flash of the obvious”. Recall them all, starting with BJ.
Sandra on June 27th, 2008 at 2:50 pm #
Now Jindal things that signing a “creationist ” educational bill will smooth everything over with us evangelicals. WRONG! Another wormy move.
Tom on June 27th, 2008 at 3:27 pm #
Jindal is a total joke! Where’s Edwin when you need him? At least with Edwin we always KNEW there were back room deals, Jindal is a total wuss! i WILL NEVER VOTE FOR THIS A-HOLE AGAIN!
Jindal is an idiot for keeping this promise — he doesn’t know that politicians always abandon their secret deals when the heat is on. He should veto the pay raise.

Where can I sign the recall petition for Jindal? Lets get this
ball rolling………….

Bobby you are being blacked-mailed by the little Louisiana legislature. What would you do as V.P. if a rogue nation blacked-mailed? YOU MUST GET A SPINE AND GROW SOME MANHOOD!!!!!!
Your reneging on your campaign promise to veto an unreasonable legislative pay raise is a stab in the back and a slap in the face to all of your supports.
Also, talking about this matter with reporters in the first person plural “WE” instead of “I” is silly and childish, as well as, starting over at the first premise of your ad gender(out of three) each time a reporter stopped you because you were tap-dancing around his direct question, “yes or no, will you veto”, was the most juvenile display of temperament I have seen from a grown person. That type of behavior I would expect from your children, not their daddy!!!!!
If you decide to stay arrogant and stubborn and not change your mind on the VETO, I will see you on the steps on July 7th,(at the 2:00p.m. rally) and I vow from that point on to always vote against you in whatever office you are pursuing!!
I was a supporter and voted for you twice. Shame on you Bobby for being so deceptive and unresponsive to your supporters!!!

Wow. You people are incredible! In the short time Bobby jindal has been governor he has done so much. Cutting taxes left and right. Everything a conservative republican can do. And yet you people whine. No wonder why the rest of the country thinks louisiana is the most corrupt state in the union. No wonder why the rest of the country laughs at this state.
David In BR on June 27th, 2008 at 9:31 pm #
When I actively campaigned for BJ I really thought we were in for a change in LA. I guess the change will have to come from us.
David In BR on June 27th, 2008 at 9:33 pm #
Brian: I respectfully submit that he did not cut taxes. He tried to kill it and then jumped in from of it when we, the people rose up. It’s obvious that he is not a leader
JimmyZ on June 27th, 2008 at 9:35 pm #
Brian, Jindal hasn’t exactly cut taxes left and right. In fact, Jindal has done anything of any substance except overpay his underqualified staff. Read up on the so-called “ethics reform”. It is a paper tiger, and the ethics board has basically been gutted. So, guess what? No real ethics reform.
The people who supported and voted for Jindal were hoodwinked big time. Jindal has shown nothing but ineptness since being elected, and the state is paying for it. Instead of blabbing on Jay Leno, Piyush-over Jindal should have been at home reading “The Prince”.
Brian on June 27th, 2008 at 9:44 pm #
Typical Liberal Democrat talking points! Thats no better than the liberal Nancy pelosi’s of the world talking. Maybe you guys should vote Obama.
JimmyZ on June 28th, 2008 at 8:22 am #
Typical ad hominem attack, and not very good at that.
What’s wrong with being a liberal Democrat? Please, Brian, impress us with your deep knowledge of politics and history. And don’t pull any typically “borrow-and-spend” big government neoconservative talking points from Rush “Where’s My Pills?” Limbaugh and Ann “Butch” Coulter. Let’s see if you can think for yourself here.
Brian on June 28th, 2008 at 9:25 am #
Oh!! Now I see. This is a liberal website. Didn’t realize. Face it, the guy was doing some very positive things for the state and was actually bringing some much needed POSITIVE national attention to your state. And you guys couldn’t stand it, and now you guys have finally found your reason to hate the guy on a piece of legislation that he didn’t even approve of. Why don’t you guys try and recall some of the democrats who voted for the pay raise? Where is the outrage at them? After the whole Katrina debacle (which was under democrat nanny state leadership), all the corupt politicians and for God’s sake DAVID DUKE! I really thought this state would be ready to turn the corner. But now the state is ready to recall its own governor over a veto?! I now see why this state elects such poor and corrupt leaders, maybe its a reflection of its people? And as for “where’s my pills limbaugh” and “Butch Coulter” WOW! That is just so original, I have never heard those before! The Huffington Post has taught you well my friend.
Brian: The only reason that Jindal is bringing positive attention to our state is because he has a very good media manipulation machine. The media networks are all shocked that Louisiana actually passed ethics legislation that they fail to look at the actual effects of that legislation and the things Jindal did to make sure that the Governers office was free to continue to be unethical.
Remember, Jindal balked at increased transparency on the administration even though he called for increased transparency on the legislature and other governmental bodies.
And it is also now harder to convict someone of ethics charges because they increased the burden of proof. They may have made more rules for people to follow. But they also made it more difficult for those people to get punished for violating them as well.
Instead of trying to defend Jindal with the typical “oh that’s just liberal talking points” defense, why don’t you actually do some of your own research and not rely on what the Jindal campaign and media manipulation machine has told you. Enough information about Jindal exists to clearly show that he was not the person he led you to believe he was.
He will not help us turn the corner, at least the right one. He is a liar, a fraud, and quite unethical (unless you think a company buying a 14 million dollar grant from the state with a 130K dollar bundled campaign donation passes the smell test).
JimmyZ on June 28th, 2008 at 1:37 pm #
Brian: That’s what I thought. You don’t really know what you’re talking about and can only parrot what you hear on Fox News and Rush Limbaugh. The fact of the matter is that you don’t appear to know what the terms “liberal” and “conservative” mean, at a basic level.
Daniel Z: You are spot-on correct. While the impetus for the recall is the refusal to veto the legislative pay raises, there are many reasons to remove Jindal from office before he does more damage. The other causes for concern that aren’t receiving the same level of media attention are the pay scales for his staff (most of whom simply aren’t experienced enough for the positions, e.g. Teepell and Moret) and the Louisiana Science Education Act (LSEA).
Bob W on June 30th, 2008 at 9:31 am #
Brian: Get a grip. I’m a lifelong Republican and I voted for Franklin Foil, Republican. I wrote him prior to passage of the raise asking them to be reasonable with no response. I am now helping with the recall Foil campaign. This ain’t about conservatives or liberals. It’s about treating the public with a little respect and voting the public’s wishes. Jindal is toast if he does not veto this cashgrab. I won’t sign a veto against him if he does the right thing and vetos. But it’s pretty obvious he has cut some deals to submit himself to as much heat as he’s deservedly getting.
Jimmy Z: if you are the Jimmy Z who asked about Foil in the Advocate a few days ago a website, recallfoil.com, will be up soon. The Greedy Gator Legislator Brigade have permission to march in the Kenilworth paraded on Thursday, July 3, and we are trying to set up a way to sign the petition there. Go to http://www.legewatch.com in the forums section for more info.
