"I have never personally endorsed any candidate for any office. "

Perhaps not. However, Mr DuBos, as DanielZ states above, on your masthead either you or your wife is listed as the Editor, Publisher, Chairman and CEO of the Gambit. You're also the owners. So, yeah, you are the Gambit, and while you may not have personally endorsed PBJ, your organ did.

Sir, please do not assume that we can not see through this facade you're attempting to create.

You also said “More than anything else, Bobby Jindal’s integrity is above reproach.” Care to retract that little nugget?

But hey, thanks for reading and responding, and long live that first amendment!

Talk about squandering a honeymoon period - with the press, with the public, with state officials. It gives credence to the theory that Jindal is book-smart and street-dumb. Attempting to exempt his own office from the reforms that he wants to put down on state representatives? Street-dumb to the extreme. As street-dumb as Gary Hart inviting reporters to follow him around; as street-dumb as David Vitter preaching about the sanctity of marriage.

When I saw him pontificating to the legislators in Baton Rouge, and the sour looks they could not hide, I thought 'He better make sure his own house is clean, because they'll be leaking to the press every bit of ethical dirt he's got on his floor.' Looks like that's happened, and will continue to happen, until Jindal and his staff are willing to play by the same rules they're laying down for the groundlings.

Clancy, with all due respect you are the face of the Gambit. You are co-owner and listed as the top editor in the editorial staff on the "about us" page. Are we to believe that you would allow an endorsement to be made in the name of your paper that you did not personally agree with?

"The Gambit endorsements are determined by a committee, of which I am one member, and the endorsement editorial of Jindal was written and reviewed by no less than 3 people who participated in the decision to endorse him."

Well then all of the people who participated in the writing and review of that endorsement article failed and all of you owe your readers an apology for not only failing to embrace your journalistic responsibility to inform the public about Bobby Jindal, but failing to do enough research to see what the rest of us saw when it came to Bobby Jindal's actual record. And the final two articles you list do not count, as they did not get published until after the election. And the searching for Bobby Jindal article? Well, all it does is ask where the Bobby Jindal of 4 years ago was. Guess what? He has been the same guy since day 1! The only difference was that he became better at playing the game of politics. He fooled you when your paper endorsed him in 2003, he fooled you when your paper endorsed him for Congress in 2006, and he fooled you again when your paper endorsed him again in 2007.

Again, as I said previously, all the information revealing the true Bobby Jindal was there to all who wanted to see it. It seems like the Gambit Weekly editorial staff was blinded by the illusion of what Jindal wanted you to believe he was. However, those who refused to be blinded (and actually chose to do a small amount of research into the candidate) saw him for the fraud he is. We knew that double standard existed. We knew that he was weak on ethics and someone who had no problems circumventing the law, bending it as much as he can to his advantage.

In short, we told you so. You just didn't want to listen.

To those who have responded, I would like to say thanks for reading and for offering your criticisms. I would, however, respectfully like to point out that I have never personally endorsed any candidate for any office. The Gambit endorsements are determined by a committee, of which I am one member, and the endorsement editorial of Jindal was written and reviewed by no less than 3 people who participated in the decision to endorse him. The newspaper's endorsement is intended to be just that -- the paper's -- not mine personally (no more than the TP's endorsement is a personal stamp of approval by James Gill, or Ashton Phelps Jr. or Jim Amoss).
When I have something to say personally, I put my name on it -- as in my column. I would also like to respectfully call to the respondents' attention several columns that I have written that were critical of Jindal during and after the campaign:
• Searching for Bobby Jindal (on his failure to debate, Sept. 25, 2007)
• Note to Bobby: The Campaign’s Over (on his off-key inauguration remarks, Jan. 22, 2008)
•The Boy Wonder’s Underbelly (on Teepell’s failure to report the in-kind GOP contribution to the Jindal campaign, Jan. 29, 2008)
Again, thanks for reading and for offering your criticisms. The First Amendment is alive and well.

Dr. Morris and Daniel covered everything I wanted to say, for the most part. Maybe if Mr. Dubos had informed the readership of GW that maybe, MAYBE they shouldn't blindly get on the Jindal bandwagon based on meaningless platitudes and Blanco fatigue, we could have avoided some of this nonsense.

He blinded all of you, every one. And now you say that he's a two-faced liar. Well, some of us endured ridicule from friends, family, neighbors, coworkers etc in October when we dared support someone else besides the media-anointed Golden Boy.

We're glad you've decided to come around, but it's too little too late. When will you people learn? This is the modern Republican party, and they under no circumstances can be trusted.
