From the Nola Ready Alert System:

The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works announces that on Saturday, November 10, Magazine Street will be closed to vehicular traffic, between Poydras Street and Lafayette Street.

Motorists will need to detour for approximately three (3) weeks to effect the complete replacement of all electrical and mechanical support equipment located in the upper floors of the Hale Boggs Federal Building, located at 500 Poydras Street.

The closure has been scheduled to coincide with the reduced traffic volumes, which normally occur during this period. Motorists who normally use Magazine Street will be detoured to Tchoupitoulas Street, a parallel thoroughfare, which serves traffic bound in the same direction. From this point, drivers can access local destinations or depart the Central Business District for U.S. 90B or travel into uptown New Orleans. Those desiring to return to Magazine Street may do so via Julia or St. Joseph Streets.

For more information, please contact the city information hotline by dialing 311 or (504) 658-2299.
